Eberswalder Straße, Helmholtzplatz, and Mauerpark – everything is very close by
Just a stone's throw away from one of the most famous Berlin junctions, where Eberswalder Straße, Danziger Straße, Schönhauser Allee, and Kastanienallee meet, lies our hostel in the Prenzlauer Berg district. In direct proximity is Helmholtzplatz, after which our Helmholtzkiez is named. The area around our hostel is characterized by many cafés, restaurants, and shops of all kinds. The famous Mauerpark, with its flea market and Sunday karaoke singing, is also within walking distance – a must for any visit to Berlin. In addition to entertainment, there is also plenty of interesting information to see regarding the Berlin Wall. At the Kulturbrauerei, on Kastanienallee, and also on Oderberger Straße, a trendy atmosphere prevails.

More informationOur top 3 tips in our neighborhood:
1. Mauerpark
The park, which was once the border strip between East and West Berlin, is now an oasis in the city and invites you to linger. On warm summer days you can experience a festival-like, relaxed atmosphere with live karaoke and street artists showing off their skills.
Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. there is the Mauerpark flea market, with everything from clothes to vinyl and furniture, as well as all kinds of curiosities and bargains.
A short walk north through the park is also recommended. You reach the Swinemünder Bridge, which is often used as a filming location, as well as the former Bornholmer Strasse border crossing. Further north you come to the Cherry Blossom Avenue, which is a popular photo spot at the right time of year.
2. Kastanienallee and Oderberger Straße
The area around Kastanienallee and Oderberger Straße is characterized by many nice cafes, restaurants and owner-operated shops. You will also find Berlin's oldest beer garden there - the Prater Garden, which opens its doors every spring. In winter, you can visit the restaurant of the same name.
3. Kulturbrauerei
After a long history as one of the many breweries in the area, culture is now brewed here. In addition to clubs, there is a cinema and restaurants. There are also numerous events, such as the Christmas market in winter.
